What is an FPGA?

FPGA (Field Programmable + Gate Array)

Semiconductor devices that consist of a regular arrangement of logic gates and programmable interconnects which can be configured (or) reprogrammed to meet the desired application (or) functionality.

Advantages:-

  1. Reduced design time
  2. Easy later bug fixing
  3. Reprogrammable – no waiting for the prototype
  4. One FPGA board – multiple configurations
  5. Minimal cost
