What is an IC?

An integrated circuit is a miniaturized electronic circuit which is a combination of active devices (e.g. transistors and diodes) and passive devices (e.g. resistors and capacitors). These electronic components are fabricated/manufactured on the surface of a thin substrate of semiconductor material.
